                    When do baby start crawling?

Crawling is probably the first way your baby will get moving. She may start by shuffling around on

her tummy, also known as the commando crawl.

Soon you baby will learn to balance on her hands and knees. From this position she can push off

with her knees to move forwards and backwards. She will be scooting around your home in no time.

When do baby start crawling?

Babies typical start crawling between 6 and 10 months, although some babies may skip the crawling

phase altogether and go straight to pulling up, cruising and walking.

Your baby will learn to crawl after having spent time on her tummy to strengthen her muscles. When

she is about six months old, she will be able to do mini push-ups. She will lie on her tummy and lift

her head and chest up, using her arms for support.

When she is about eight months old, she may be able to sit well without support. She may then try

to move from a sitting position on to her hands and knees. Her arm, leg and back muscles should be

strong enough to keep her on all fours.

After your baby has got used to crawling, she will work on getting upright and learning to walk. She will

begin by pulling herself up on everything she can reach, whether its the coffee table or your leg.

Once your baby gets the hang of balancing on her legs, shell be ready to stand on her own and cruise.

Cruising is where your baby will move around in an upright position while holding on to furniture. Once

your baby has mastered the art of cruising, its just a matter of time until shes walking, running, jumping

and leaping.

How to help your baby to crawl?

You can help your baby to crawl by encouraging her to spend time on her tummy.

Tummy time which basically means time for her to be on the floor, face down. When shes like this it

best if you are nearby, even lying on the ground next to her and keep him entertained with favorite toys.

You can try to put a desirable toy just out of reach so that he would start pushing his feet against the

ground to reach it.

However, a lot of people do not recognize the importance of floor time, which is the best surface to give

your infant the support to develop their muscle ton and move on to the next gross-motor step. This in

itself, along with making tummy time enjoyable, is really all you have to do to encourage her, and it will

come in time. You can always talk to him and cheer her small movements.

Whats more, you can make things fun by creating an obstacle course around the living room for your baby

to negotiate. Try using pillows, boxes and sofa cushions. This will help to improve her confidence, speed and

agility. Always stay with your baby, in case she gets into difficulty.

Give lots of tummy time, like 15 minutes a day. That will help them get started. And crawling is supposed to

be developmentally healthy for them in the future, not only physically, but mentally.
